Grades 6 - 12
We are excited about the plans for the WGLC youth ministry this coming year! We will continue to host our youth group on Thursday nights at WGLC. The goal of our program is to share God’s love as we build relationships between leaders and youth and youth and their small group. We are committed to creating a safe place for kids where they feel a sense of belonging and they are encouraged to grow in their faith.
The youth ministry program at WGLC is offered for kids in grades 6-12. During all events, we will be following similar protocols to those put in place for Sunday worship. You can read the WGLC plan by clicking this link.
Due to COVID-19, we ask that all students who attend on Thursday nights bring masks to wear and pre-register online. We will have a limited supply of disposable masks for those who forget. Pre-registration will be available in the week leading up to Thursday night and will be sent out via email or by clicking here. We ask that if your child is feeling sick or is showing any symptoms of COVID-19 (coughing, fever, difficulty breathing) or has been out of Canada in the last 14 days or has had contact with a known COVID-19 positive person within the past 14 days, that they do not enter the building.
Our first youth night will be Sept. 17th. That first night the middle school group (grades 6-8) will meet from 6:30-7:30 pm and the high school group (grades 9-12) will meet from 8-9 pm. This staggered time will allow us to follow provincial protocols on group gathering size and give us time to sanitize the space between groups. Please pre-register for this event by using this link.
Because we must keep our numbers below fifty people, middle school students and high school students will meet in-person on alternating Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30pm. The group that is not meeting in-person that week will have the option of joining a Zoom meeting with their leaders from 7-8 pm.
Thursday nights will be structured to allow for fellowship but also encourage physical distancing. In order to limit the number of people in the building, our sign-in booth will be located outside the main doors of the church. Greeters will be present to assist with the process, but we ask that parents and youth be mindful of maintaining distance while waiting to register. In addition, please remember your mask to help keep everyone safe during registration.
The first time a youth attends, parents are required to fill out this registration form and media release. Youth will be met by their small group leaders as they enter the building. We will start with social time as youth arrive, followed by a few physically distant games, a Bible lesson, and a small group discussion before coming back together to end the night. Students will then exit the building through the doors at the back of the sanctuary so that we have one dedicated entrance and one dedicated exit.
