Youth

Grades 6 - 12

The goal of our program is to share God’s love as we build relationships between leaders and youth and youth and their small group. We are committed to creating a safe place for kids where they feel a sense of belonging and they are encouraged to grow in their faith.

On June 10th, we plan to begin meeting in-person again at Walnut Grove Lutheran Church for the three remaining weeks in our program year. With the number of Covid cases going down and the number of people who have been able to receive their vaccinations we feel that it is now safe to meet in person again, following the health and safety regulations. What will youth nights look like?

Youth nights will look similar to how they did in the fall, students will pre-register online during the week before Thursday night, everyone will be asked to mask while inside the buildings (with the exception of speakers) and to frequently use hand sanitizer, especially upon entrance and between any transitions in the night. The maximum capacity for each group is 50 people (including leaders).

Thursday nights will be structured to allow for fellowship but also to encourage physical distancing. In order to limit the number of people in the building, our sign-in booth will be located outside the main doors of the church. Greeters will be present to assist with the process, but we ask that parents and youth be mindful of maintaining distance while waiting to register. In addition, please remember your mask to help keep everyone safe during registration.

The first time a youth attends, parents are required to fill out a registration form and media release. Youth will be met by their small group leaders as they enter the building. We will start with social time as youth arrive, followed by a few physically distant games, a Bible lesson, and a small group discussion before coming back together to end the night.

Both middle school and high school groups will be kept completely separate while the programs are running. The church will be split into two halves, and each group will have their own entrance and access to their own washrooms.

Middle school (grade 6-8) will gather in the hall on the West side of the building, using their own entrance and registration desk, and be completely separate from the high school group.

This group will run from 7pm-8:30pm. Click here to pre-register.

High school (grade 9-12) will be gathering in the sanctuary on the East side of the church, using their own entrance and registration desk, and be completely separate from the middle school group.

This group will run from 7pm-8:30pm. Click here to pre-register.

We ask that if your child is feeling sick or is showing any symptoms of COVID-19 (coughing, fever, difficulty breathing) or has been out of Canada in the last 14 days or has had contact with a known COVID-19 positive person within the past 14 days, that they do not take part that week.

When the evening’s activities are over, we ask that youth head directly to their vehicles. Please be mindful to avoid unnecessary mixing between middle school and high school students in the parking lot.

We are very grateful at this time to be returning to our in-person activities. We pray that this ministry continues to provide your children with a safe place to grow in their faith and to be in community with one another.

See you soon!
